Here at Resolute, we run a dedicated Vinted page, where we sell second-hand clothing donated by our wonderful supporters. All of the proceeds made when you purchase one of our pre-loved items go straight back into The Lotus, and fund all of the important services that we offer here.
Why shop second-hand?
Although fast-fashion seemingly has its benefits, with 1 million new cheaply-priced garments appearing every single day, the environmental cost is immense: with textile production contributing more to climate change than international aviation and shipping combined. In addition, the human cost of fast fashion is dreadful — employees work for very little pay under inhumane conditions. Those affected are largely women, who make up 60-80% of the global garment workforce, and as such we see the underlying connections between the women disenfranchised by these conditions, and the women who walk through our doors seeking help.
By choosing to shop second-hand, you are making a choice to build a more ethical wardrobe: instead of another new item entering circulation (to undoubtedly end its life in a landfill), you are giving a second chance to a pre-loved piece of clothing. The environmental and human costs are vastly reduced — and second-hand pieces can often be just as cheap as fast fashion!
Shop Resolute.
By purchasing second-hand clothing through our Vinted page (@rwslotus), the benefits of your purchase are doubled, as not only are you helping to preserve the planet through ethical consumption, you are also helping us to support women affected by domestic abuse. Every penny we make from a Vinted sale is funneled straight back into our services, meaning your purchase can make a tangible difference within the local community.
